What are You Doing With All Your Spare Time?

Posted on June 03, 2016 by Debbie Haymark | 0 Comments

Everyone is asking me what I am doing with all my spare time now that the shop is closed.

This is where I work now.

During our closing sale, we sold approximately 1/3 of our stock. Everything that didn’t sell has come to my house. Joe and I are doing inventory. Everything was pulled from the website to be counted before being returned to the website. It is important to get our products back onto the website to sell.

To think of it in simple business terms, let’s say we had $75K in inventory - yarn, needles and supplies. We sold 1/3 of that. That leaves $50K of yarn that needs to be counted and put back onto the website to sell. For those who are now wondering, iPurl had more than $75K in inventory. (The needle wall alone easily held over $20K in knitting needles).

In the meantime, new merchandise for the website is coming in. It also needs to be added to the website.
Finding suitable storage in my home for a lot of yarn has been a big job. For now, we will lose a bedroom to yarn storage. Everything is counted and put into a nice bin labeled by brand for storage and stacked neatly away. It makes it fairly easy for me to fill orders.

I Have Always Loved Opal Sock Yarn

Posted on May 31, 2016 by Debbie Haymark | 0 Comments

Opal sock yarn has always had a cult following.  Seasoned sock knitters know that it's quality is superior, wears very well and the colors are always gorgeous.

This color is 3202 Use Public Transport - Save the City.  It is an older color and no longer in stock.
I do look forward to wearing or gifting these this coming Fall.

I am Knitting Socks

Posted on May 24, 2016 by Debbie Haymark | 0 Comments

I have been knitting socks in the evening while watching baseball as it requires very little thinking on my part.

After doing some sock design, I had sock knitting burnout for a long time.  Knitting socks two at a time renewed my excitement for knitting socks.  It seems that I don't knit much longer than it takes to knit one sock and I have a pair.  I prefer top down TAAT using the Magic Loop Technique.

This is Arne & Carlos sock yarn in 03 657 Summer Night. (yes, this yarn is on our website)

I love the way Arne & Carlos sock yarn knit s up.  I have always been a pushover for striping sock yarn.  This pair is going to granddaughter Kayla for her birthday in July.  I hope they fit her!

We are Counting Balls of Yarn

Posted on May 04, 2016 by Debbie Haymark | 0 Comments

We are currently doing inventory after closing our physical store.  At this time, Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn is the only yarn visible on our website.  As we complete counting different brands of yarn, they will appear back on the site.

iPurl won't be carrying all the yarns we had in the shop.  Those will start showing up in a Clearance Tab.  Our website will specialize in fabulous sock weight yarns and maybe a few specialty yarns.  Project bags, sock knitting needles and supplies will also be available on the website.

Customer Service is a priority and our shipping rates are very reasonable.

We hope you will check back with us frequently to see what's new and what's in Clearance!

I Have to Knit with Hedgehog Fibres!

Hedgehog Fibres is in.  I cannot resist knitting a pair of socks with some of this gorgeous yarn!   Might be a bit hard to see but I have them going.

This is Hedgehog Fibes Sock in Shiver

And for the finished socks - I have currently misplaced this pair!  Sigh.
